Georgian interpretation of known work by Gogol…new artistic conception and classic characters reliven in puppetry. The director mixes familar into the original source, what the minimization of text means and the main emphasis is on the nonverbal presentation gesture. Here we also meet the characters from other works by Gogol (Nase, Diary of a Madman). The naration (acting) is depended on the telling art of the author. In terms of artistic style, the whole performance is in realistical art focused. The majority of characters are puppets, although we also meet the live plan acting. Thewhole performance is experimental, this can we notice in the artistry design of puppets in traditional style. From concrete details and things a character is produced, this requires a tremendous professionality and must be done by the actors.
The Premiere will be held in the frames of Georgian Showcase 2018
Duration: 80 minutes, without intermission
The tour group: 20 persons

Previous 5 years has been quite problematic. Theatre was functioning without building. Fortunately, the problem is being solved and we will host the audience in new building very soon. Despite the absence of good working conditions, Tbilisi puppet theatre has never stopped working. We have 5 to 7 premiere every year. The list of latest performances are: ‘’Red Riding Hood’’ (Charles Perrault. Director: Nikoloz Sabashvili), ‘’What Has Lullaby Done?’’ (Iakob Gogebashvili. Director: Nikoloz Sabashvili), Pinocchio (Carlo Collodi. Director: Elene Matskhonashvili), Karlsson on the roof (Astrid Lindgren. Director: Elene Matskhonashvili)
We have visited Kazakhstan and Armenia prviously. Also, our team has been in United states to perform ‘’What Has Lulaby Done?’’ for emmigrants.
Employment of disabled people in theatre is they key project which is being undertaken. For this reason, we were visiting London Chickenshed theatre. They have adapted atmosphere for disabled people and are willing to share their experience. New building of Tbilisi State Puppet Theatre will also be adapted for disabled people and they will not only be able to attend our performances, but work with us and take part in creation of performances.
