About the performance:
…Everything was decided when God died in Carla!
A long time ago, they met by chance and began to live together in the hope that maybe something would change. However, only one of them made the decision. In general, all decisions were made by one person - whether it was baking a cheese pie or overdosing on medical pills. Outside, they chased those who were different and mercilessly threw them on a truck. Helver was different too. And since salvation was nowhere in sight, so Carla took on God’s mission and made a decision!
Duration: 70 minutes/without intermission
Meskhishvili Theater in Kutaisi has a 162-year history. It depicts the multifaceted life of the theater, creative achievements, the work of those public figures and stage lovers, on the basis of whose tireless work first the professional and then the modern Meskhishvili Theater was developed .
Meskhishvili Theater has been and remains a living theater, which is manifested in constant transformation and pursuit of modern trends.
In 2023, the theater established the dramatists' competition "Georgian dramaturgy - the foundation of Georgian theater". Selected competitive plays were presented by the actors in the format of a staged reading, and the winning play was staged in the theater.
Within the framework of the competition, the theater established new contacts with modern Georgian playwrights.
Modern foreign dramaturgy also occupies an important place in the repertoire.Even old texts, whether they are Georgian or foreign classics, are edited and only then presented to the audience. This process, obviously, does not mean interference in the original syntax and stylistic features of the writer.
To communicate with the audience, the theater uses a flexible language and speaks to them, using the latest trends in modern European theater. Following modern European theatrical trends, theater directing and acting are being developed. Meskhishvili Theater has an experimental stage that provides the best opportunities for bold theatrical experiments.
The doors of the Meskhishvili Theater are open to foreign and novice directors. There are many performances by young directors in the repertoire
The theater is in constant interaction with the audience, conducts surveys and takes into account the wishes and demands of the audience.
Theater's repertoire shows that classical and modern dramaturgy are equally valuable to it. The theater offers the best Georgian and European samples of these texts to the audience. This is the unshakable foundation on which Meskhishvili Theater has developed and which boldly positions itself in the modern theatrical world.
