Genre - Drama
"Woyzeck " by Georg Büchner tells the story about difficult, almost unbearable life of an
individual, a representative of the “simple” people, lower class society . The plot of the work
is based on a real story - Johann Christian Wojcek, a barber from Leipzig, committed murder
of his lover on the grounds of jealousy. The play, which Buechner worked on in the last year
of his life, remained unfinished and was published only after his death.
The world around Woyceck is hostile . Strangely sensitive and moving, Woyckeck is the
only virtuous person in the whole play
The performance was funded by Tbilisi City Hall.
Review
Movement Theater is a unique performing space on the Georgian theater map. It is an independent company that
uses the principles of physical theater, plastic and body language to create its own aesthetics.
Social and economic challenges that are more than usual for independent theaters are a logical background for
the production of Woyzeck by the famous German author, Georg Büchner. Directed by Ioseb Bakuradze and
masterfully performed by talented young people, the drama is presented in expressive, dizzying, circular
movements, with intense sympathy for a person mentally torn by social inequality.
Kakha Bakuradze Movement Theater was founded in 2001. The theater combines various
branches of performing arts. Performances are non-verbal. The theater manages its
performances both indoors and outdoors. The Theatre has its own permanent company and a
musical band. He takes part in festivals both in Georgia and abroad. For three years already
the theater has its own festival called "International Festival of Movement, Dance and
Physical Theater".
